Five Ways You Can Support Refugee Families in Baltimore

There are now more than 100 million people who have been displaced due to conflict and disaster throughout the world, according to the UNHCR. Amidst this unprecedented need, we feel called to stand with refugee families and all people seeking safety and new beginnings in our community.

Many of you have already graciously shared your time, efforts, expertise, and more as we worked to renovate homes with the Clinton Street Community Center to expand our offerings of high-quality, affordable education to young people and provide newly arrived families with housing as they build a new life in Highlandtown. For these actions of solidarity and generosity, we are incredibly grateful...And our efforts continue.

As you start looking ahead to the holiday season, you may be wondering how you can give back and support refugee neighbors in this time of gratitude, celebration, and generosity. To make it easy for you, we are highlighting five ways you can continue to support children and their families as they make Baltimore home.

Attend our upcoming Clinton Street Community Center Information Session and learn more about joining the Refugee Welcome Team.

Learn about how you can become a member of our Refugee Welcome team at our upcoming information session November 13th, 2022 at 12:30 pm ET at Breath of God Lutheran Church (141 S Clinton St, Baltimore, MD 21224) and on Zoom. A recording of the Information Session will be available for those who are unable to attend.

Donate to ensure newly arrived families have stability and a great place to live and preschool students have a great place to learn.

Your donation supports the renovation and maintenance of spaces where we will work to provide high quality education for our youngest neighbors and meet the housing needs for newly arrived families. Thank you for helping us build a vibrant and supportive community together!

Volunteer to help finish the construction work on housing for a refugee family.

We have opportunities to volunteer for Clinton Street Community Center construction efforts! You can register as a volunteer below. What began as a fire and water-damaged shell back in June has come such a long way. We're now working in the building on painting and flooring. Join us!

Spread the word! Follow us on Facebook and share about us with your family and friends.
